I was hoping Mrs Norton would just cut me from the play, but today she said that everyone who tried out is going to get a part. So lucky me.
노턴선생님이 연극에서 나를 그냥 제외시켰으면 좋겠는데, 오늘 오디션을 본 아이드 모두가 역할을 맡을 거라고 했다. 난 운도 참 좋다.

Mrs Norton showed "The Wizard of Oz" movie so everyone would know the story. 
노턴선생님은 모두가 스토리를 알 수 있게 "오즈의 마법사" 영화를 보여주었다.

 

I was trying to figure out what part I should play, but pretty much every character has to sing or dance at one point or another.

나는 내가 맡을 만한 역할이 있는지 알아 보았지만 거의 모든 배역이 한번쯤은 노래를 하거나 춤을 춰야 했다.

 

But about halfway though the movie, I figured out what part I wanted to sign up for. 
그래도 영화를 반 정도 봤을 때, 나는 맡고 싶은 역할을 찾아냈다.

I'm going to sign up to be a Tree, because 1) they don't have to sing and 2) they get to bean Doroty with apples.

나는 나무 역할을 하고 싶었다. 왜냐하면 첫째, 나무는 노래를 하지 않아도 된다. 둘째, 도로시 머리를 사과로 때릴 기회가 있기 때문이다.
